Your itinerary day by day

Day 1: Zurich. Check in at your hotel. This evening meet your tour director and fellow travellers.

Day 2: Regensdorf - Appenzell - Liechtenstein - St. Moritz. A sensational drive today through some of Switzerland's most famed cantons. First to see the old town centre of appenzell with its town hall, fine painted wooden houses and the legendary 'Landsgemeindeplatz'. Further east to vaduz in the minute principality of liechtenstein, then the rhine valley before starting the ascent of the mighty julier pass. Soon you'll be in the heart of switzerland's largest canton, the grisons, where yu'll see some of the world's best alpine views, crystal clear blue lakes and quaint white villages. Overnight in St. Moritz. B.

Day 3: St Moritz - The bernina express glacier train to tirano - Lugano. Leave St. Moritz this morning via the bernina express train for one of europe's most spectacular train rides and a wonderful way of crossing the alps. Beginning in st. mortiz you cross the lofty bernina pass via the swiss poschiavo area to tirano in the italian valtellina. Rejoin your coach for the journey along the shores of charming lake como to reach the swiss border ad the lakeside city of lugano. B,D.

Day 4: Lugano - lake Maggiore - Tasch. Morning break in Lugano with a visit to a chocolate factory in nearby caslano. Afterwards return to italy to savour the luminous atmosphere of lake magglore, set in almost mediterranean scenery. Time for an optional boat trip to isola bella. Then back into switzerland via the scenic simplon pass for overnight in tasch. B,D.

Day 5: Tasch - Zermatt - Lake Geneva - Lausanne. This morning an included excursion by train to zermatt, the famous swiss mountain resort at the foot of the mighty matterhorn. In the acternoon pass through the lower rhone valley to lake geneva and on through the terraced vineyards lining its shores before arriving in lausanne. B.

Day 6: Lausanne - Gruyere - Berne - Lake thun - Interlaken - Lake lucerne area. To Gruyere for a stop in this once medieval stronghold. On to switzerland's beautiful capital, berne. Included sightseeing features the bear pit and the monumental federal palace. Then by way of the shores of enchanting lake thun to interlaken. After a visit continue over the brunig pass to lake lucerne for overnight. B,D.

Day 7: in Lucerne - Regensdorf. Lucerne - one of switzerland's finest cities nestling amid snow capped alps, surrounded by a lake and embellished by the clear mountain waters of the river reuss. Yoursightseeing takes in the main highlights. Time at leisure to explore or alternatively you can join an optional cable car ride to the 10,000 ft. summit of Mount titlis. In the evening drive to Regensdorf for overnight. B.

Day 8: Zurich. Transfer to Zurich airport where your tour ends. B.
