Bhutan Travel
Bhutan has 4 distinct seasons, with spring being the most beautiful time of
the year. The cold winds that characterise the winter months tend to subside
by the end of February . The valley of Paro blooms with flowers at the
height of spring. i.e. the end of March, when the whole kingdom comes to
life with the spectacular flaming red, pink and white blossoms. Himalayan
peaks can be clearly viewed in the winter.

DAY 01 : KOLKATA-PARO
Arrival Paro. The flight offers you beautiful mountain and lanscape. On
arrival transfer and check into hotel. Afternoon/evening time at leisure.
Overnight at hotel.
DAY 02 : PARO
Sightseeing-visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel dzong, Ringpung Dzong
which serves as the administrative centre and school for monks. Walk further
down crossing the traditional bridge into Paro Town. Stroll around the
market and return to hotel.
DAY 03: PARO-THIMPHU
Drive to Thimphu for sightseeing in Thimphu-Visit the memorial chorten
built in the memory of the late king Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 125 century
changakha monastery, Motithang mimi zoo to see the rare "takin"
national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with good view of the
Thimphu valley. Free time in the Market.Overnight at hotel.
DAY 04 : THIMPHU
After breakfast, visit the Painting school, National Library, Royal
golldmith workshop and Handicaraft centres. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 05 : THIMPU-WANGDI
Drive 3 hours to Wangduepdrang crossing the Dochula pass 3100 meters. On
fine weather you will see the Eastern Himalayan ranges including the highest
mountain in Bhutan Mt.gangar Punsum 7520 meters. The drive from the pass is
all the way dowhill dropping to the lower and warm valleys of lobesa. Visit
the Wangduepdrang Dzong from outside and the market area. Overnight at
hotel.
DAY 06: WANGDI
Day excursion to the Gangtey Gompa valley at an altitude of 2800 meters.
This beautiful valley is also home to the rare Black Nacked Cranes mioratime
from the Tibetan plateau to escape the harsh winter. Explore the fascinating
glacle valley and return to the Resort.
DAY 07 : WANGDI - PARO
AM drive 45 minutes to Punakha and visit the Punakha Dzong fron there drive
4 hrs. To Thimphu for lunch and proceed 2 hrs. To Paro after visiting the
oldest building in Bhutan, the Simtpokha Dzong. It now serves as a Buddhist
university. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 08 : PARO -KOLKATA
Transfer to Airport for your flight to Kolkata.

SIGHTSEEING IN PARO
Drukgyel Djong
Its a A Bhutanese Fort ruined by fire. This fort is of historical
importance from where the Bhutanese stopped numerous Tibetan invasions. the
White dome shaped beautiful Mount Chomolhari can be viewed from this ruined
fort.
National Museum of Bhutan
The National Museum is housed in an ancient watch tower and has a fine
collection of Thankha paintings, textiles, weapons, birds, animals, arts and
artifacts.
Nature Travel in Bhutan
Paro is one of the most beautiful valleys of Bhutan. The fresh air pine
covered mountains around the valley and cluster of villages scattered over
the valley is a treat to nature lovers. A walk in the village or a short
trek in the jungles will be a pleasant change from the hectic life to
visitors from the metropolitan cities. A trip to Chilela, the mountain that
divides two valleys of western Bhutan, Ha and Paro, will treat you to the
cool fresh air and the beautiful ranges of the Himalayas.

Taktsang Monastery in Bhutan
It is said that Guru Rimpoche, father of the Bhutanese stream of Mahayana
Buddhism arrived in the valley of Paro more than a millennium ago on the
back of a legendary tigress. He meditated for three months in a cave where a
monastery was later built and called taktsang or Tiger's Den. Visitors to
Paro can take a closer view of the monas either on foot or by pony which
takes about three hours. The walk up the pine covered forest and the view of
the monastery hanging on a cliff 3000 ft above the valley floor should not
be missed.
SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU
Tashichho Dzong
Tashichho Djong is the most stately and most impressive building of Bhutan.
It houses the throne room of the King of Bhutan. The National assembly and
the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and the Central Monk
Body.
Memorial Chorten
Right in the center of Thimphu City stands the colorful Memorial chorten,
filled with exquisitely designed Buddhist statues. The Chorten Monastery was
built in 1974 in memory of the third King of Bhutan.
Painting School of Bhutan
To preserve the old tradition of Bhutanese mural and Tanka paintings, this
school was established by the Royal government. Here, one can see some of
the youth and children learn the art of Bhutanese painting to keep the
tradition alive.

National Library of Bhutan
The National Library, housed in a traditional Bhutanese building has a vast
collection of books and research documents of Buddhist studies.
General Post Office
One of Bhutan's main exports is its wide and multifarious stamps. These are
best seen in commemorative books inside Thimphu's General Post Office.
Thimphu Town in Bhutan
Though a small town, Thimphu is a charming place. Every shop is stacked
with multiple products- from grocery to textiles to shoes and handicrafts
products. Increasing number of shops sell imported goods brought in from
Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore because of Druk Air's connection to
Bangkok. The town is also filled with bars selling all kinds of alcoholic
drinks.
Dochula Pass
Dochula Pass is only 45 mins from Thimphu by road towards Punakha at an
altitude of 3100 m. From this pass one can relax and enjoy the spectacular
view of the Himalayan range, dividing Tibet and Bhutan. The best time to
reach Dochula is at dawn when the clouds are thin and rhododendron are in
season (March,April). The early morning sun casts breathtaking lights on the
distant mountains. A powerful pair of binoculars are installed in the
cafeteria to let visitors enjoy a closer view of the peaks.

Punakha Travel
The winter capital Punakha town does not hold many attractions apart from
the glorious Dzong which dominates the valley floor. Before Thimphu was made
the capital of Bhutan. Punakha held the title as winter Capital because of
its more temperate climate. Thimphu's monk body and the Je Khempo (leader of
Bhutan's religious order) still come to Punakha to pass the winter.
